Kyle Wortz is the founder and principal advisor of Emerson Spirits. He previously served as Head Distiller at Trillium Brewing Company and Distilling Supervisor at High West Distillery, with experience spanning both craft and large production environments.
His background includes working with direct-fired pot stills and continuous column systems across grain-to-glass operations and industrial-scale facilities.
About the founder
Kyle holds a certificate in Distillation, Wine, and Brewing Studies from the University of Kentucky and a Lean Six Sigma & Operations Management certificate from the University of Utah. He has over ten years of experience in spirits manufacturing and eight years in Army engineering and aviation maintenance, where he developed a foundation in disciplined systems and operational reliability.
His work is focused on improving production performance through efficiency, process control, and team development. He maintains a strong interest in product development and in building resilient production teams capable of supporting consistent, high-quality output.
